Cobblestone Corner

About us

Cobblestone Corner is licensed for 10 children. We have an entire floor dedicated to our school, which has a bathroom with a toddler sized toilet and sink(perfect for building confidence during potty training and no step stool falls), a kitchen to prepare meals, a dedicated circle time area, an arts and craft/ eating area and 2 large open planned play areas. We also have a fully fenced in backyard with playground turf and ride on cars, a large sandbox, playhouses, an outdoor pretend kitchen, water tables, bubbles, balls, see-saws and lots more. Each day photos, information and notices are uploaded onto a private Dojo app so that the parents are informed about what their child learnt about, had fun doing, and any special and sweet moments we think you would enjoy seeing or hearing about. My co-teacher, Miss Terri, has been teaching at Cobblestone Corner for over 6 years. Each day the children are greeted and taught by myself and Miss Terri. This helps to create a stable and consistent environment where the children always feel emotionally safe, loved and comfortable and are ready to learn and grow.

School Philosophy & discipline

At Cobblestone Corner we believe that school and learning should be a time discovery and exploration. Most of what young children learn is through sensory experiences, which is why we promote, encourage and incorporate education into play. Our program meets the developmental needs of all children and supports them as they grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially.Our goal, through constructive and educational discipline, including diversion, separation from the problem situation, talking with the child about the situation and praising them for appropriate behavior, is to reinforce the healthy development and growth of the children by teaching them how to express themselves in an appropriate and socially acceptable way, as well the importance of respecting the rights and property of other people.

10:30 am - Go Inside/Bathroom/Diapers/Wash Hands for snack
10:45 am - Learning Center Activities
11:15 am - Special Table Activities and free play
12:00 pm - Lunch
12:30 pm - Clean Up Lunch/Bathroom/Diapers/Nap Story
1:00-2:30 pm - Nap/Quiet Time
2:45-3:00 pm - Clean Up/Bathroom/Diapers/Wash Hands for Snack
3:00-3:30 pm - Snack
3:30-3:45 pm - Clean Up/Prepare for Outside
3:45-4:30 pm - Outside Free Choice Time (weather permitting - if inside then music and movement activity)
4:30-4:45 pm - Go Inside/Bathroom/potty/Wash Hands
4:45-5:00 pm - Inside Free Choice Time/Departures
5:00 pm - Cobblestone Corner closes

Extra curricular and exceptions to schedule

While there are times noted with each activity we follow a routine rather than a clock, so our schedule is there to guide our day but is subject to change without notice because sometimes time gets away from us and we just go with the flow of what we're having fun doing.

We also have activities planned during our week that take us away from the house and into the community like occasional outings to various locations in the neighborhood like the library or the playground and travel by stroller.

We also have extra-curricular classes come to us like James, from Harmony Kidz, comes to do music time with us, which the children love, Fit ‘n Fun which keeps the children having fun while moving. Deanna, and an optional creative movement class especially for the “cobblestone kids” where the children will even have the opportunity to be in the studio's dance recital each May. We also have lots of fun and interesting guests.

Our end goal…...

Our goal is that by the time our students leave Cobblestone Corner for kindergarten they are well-rounded, confident, empathetic, respectful individuals who have had a variety of real life and hands on experiences so that in their future school career they will have lots of information, knowledge and experiences to draw upon, refer back to and access.
